Meet Gary

Hello — I’m Gary Campbell.

I live and grew up here in Corby and I’m standing as an independent candidate for Kingswood Ward. I’m not aligned with any political party — I’m standing because I care deeply about public service, about doing things properly, and about representing people with honesty and purpose.

From the Army to Public Service

I began my career in the British Army, where I learned the value of leadership, discipline, and being part of something bigger than myself. That sense of service has stayed with me throughout my life.

Since then, I’ve worked around the world in resilience, emergency planning, and public safety, including roles in government, transport, education, infrastructure, and emergency services. Today, I work in a senior role in the UK rail and transport sector, focused on keeping services running safely and effectively during crises — from extreme weather to labour disruptions.

I’ve worked with councils, Local Resilience Forums, emergency services, and national government. I understand how complex public services work — and what happens when they don’t.

Why I’m Standing

In the past few years, we’ve seen growing pressure on local councils, including our own. Budgets are tight, services are stretched, and residents often feel left out of the decisions that affect them most.

That’s why I’m standing — to bring a fresh, independent voice to Corby politics. I’m running on three core principles:

  • Accountability – Residents deserve clear, honest answers — not jargon or spin.

  • Competence – We need people who can understand a budget, ask smart questions, and make responsible decisions.

  • Visibility – Your councillor should be someone you know and can reach — not just during election time, but all year round

The Only Independent Candidate in Corby

Right now, I’m the only independent candidate standing in Corby. That means I’m not taking orders from a party office. I’m here to represent you — not push a national agenda.

I believe in working with anyone who brings good ideas to the table, regardless of party. What matters most is doing what’s right for Kingswood, Corby, and North Northamptonshire.

Let’s Talk

You won’t find me on social media chasing likes. I’d rather speak to you in person, by phone, or at your doorstep. I’m not trying to “go into politics” — I’m stepping up because I care about the people who live here and how decisions are made on their behalf.

If you’d like to ask me anything, or just have a conversation, I’d love to hear from you.

If you’d like to know more about my background and experience, you can also find me on LinkedIn.
